Bruins Lose OT Thriller

Bartlesville and Broken Arrow are evenly matched.

That much is clear, after the Bruins took BA to overtime before losing 58-53 in the Broken Arrow Regional Championship game on Tuesday night. The loss sends BHS to the consolation bracket of the Area Tournament, and means the Bruins will face elimination in every game they play from here on out.

The loss makes BHS 1-2 against BA this season, with the two losses coming at Broken Arrow by a combined eight points. Bartlesville led in the final minute in both games it lost at BA.

Bartlesville had a possession with the game tied at 51 with about 25 second remaining in regulation. A BHS turnover, then a Broken Arrow missed layup, gave the ball back to the Bruins in transition as time was winding down. Barron Tanner was issued with a travel, on what could have been a foul, with the ball mid-lane, and the game went to OT. Bartlesville could never gain any traction in the extra period, scoring only two points.

Tanner led Bartlesville, scoring 14 points, but foul trouble plagued the sophomore. He only scored two points in the second half.

The loss sends Bartlesville to Will Rodgers High School to play Midwest City on Friday at 8:00. The Bombers are 16-8, they lost to Union on Tuesday night 78-50.

We will have a full preview of the Bruins vs. Bombers on BartlesvilleRadio.com, along with audio from coach Clent Stewart on Thursday afternoon. You can hear the Bartlesville-Midwest City game on KWON, with pregame starting at 7:45.
