Bruins Split Two In Sand Springs

Bartlesville split two games during its opening day at the Sand Springs Wood Bat Invitational.

The Bruins won game one 5-4 over Muskogee, then lost to Sapulpa 8-4. Bartlesville stands at 10-7 going into its third tournament game against Bixby on Friday afternoon at 4:00. The Spartans are in District 6A-3 with BHS.

In game one, Bartlesville scored three runs in the top of the seventh to down the Roughers in dramatic style.

With one out and nobody on, Joe Jones walked, then David Wiseman singled. After that, Zac Boyes delivered the biggest blow, doubling to left-center. The extra-base hit scored Wiseman and Jones. Boyes later reached home on a groundout.

Tate Holman threw a complete game against Muskogee. Holman allowed two earned runs on five hits. He struck out three, walked three and picked up the win.

In game two the Bruin’s lost a back and forth affair. Bartlesville led at one point, 4-3, after four innings. The Chieftains then scored five unanswered runs, including three in the top of the seventh, which propelled them to the victory.

No Bruin managed more than one hit during the loss.

Zac Boyes led Bartlesville at the plate for the day, with two hits against Muskogee and one against Sapulpa.

Bartlesville is now 2-0 against the Roughers, and 1-1 against Sapulpa on the season.
