Caney Valley Hoops Faced with Big Test

The Caney Valley boys’ team continues to be one of the top emerging teams in Green Country as we approach winter break for most schools. The Trojans had a strong showing last week in the Kenneth Sooter Invitational at Welch High School last week. Caney Valley took second after falling to Wyandotte, 68-45, in the finals.

The Trojans are 6-2 heading into Tuesday’s game against Barnsdall. The Panthers are the only other team to beat Caney Valley this year. Barnsdall blew out the Trojans, 63-30 earlier this month. Caney Valley head coach Tug Brinker says keeping the score close early on will be a priority.

Even though the team has gotten off to good start, coach Brinker wants to see improvement on the offensive end. The Trojans top scoring total is 68 points on the season.

Barnsdall is 7-0 on year. The Panthers won the Pawhuska tournament over the weekend after thrilling overtime victory over the host team.

Tipoff from Ramona is set for 8 p.m.
