Caney Valley, Kansas Baseball Seniors

We continue our check of area high school spring athletic teams and feature seniors who had their final high school season cut short.

Today we will feature the Caney Valley, Kansas baseball team.

The Bullpups were primed to be one of the best in the sunflower state.

Future NCAA Division I pitcher Jace Kaminska had his eyes set on more state records, but unfortunately the season was called off before the Bullpups could get a game in.

Head coach Mike Kaminska says he is disappointed in how everything played out, Caney had gotten some help at the assistant coaching level, and Kaminska it was making a difference.

Caney Valley had seniors this spring in Kaminska, Brendon Anderson, Keaton Herrman and Jalen Bush. Kaminska made national headlines last year after striking out 29 consecutive batters in regular season play. That broke a Kansas record.

Jace will be a freshman at Wichita State this coming fall. His dad and head coach Mike Kaminska talks about that process amid the virus.

Kansas Collegiate League Baseball made an announcement on Tuesday that its summer games had been canceled.

Kaminska was supposed to compete in that league starting later this month. Mike said that Jace will look to get in some innings elsewhere if possible.
