Ever since Bartlesville High wrapped up its 2020-2021 basketball season we have had a ton of news on the recruiting of Bruin sophomore David Castillo.

The biggest domino to fall came on Wednesday evening, as Castillo received a scholarship offer from one of the best college basketball programs of all time -  the University of Kansas.

The Jayhawks and assistant coach Jeremey Case were in Bartlesville to offer Castillo. This is the 12th DI school to offer a scholarship to the Bruin point guard. That in addition to his performance on Team USA during their 16-and-under event in Mexico, it’s been a whirlwind few months.

Castillo says he has enjoyed it and is looking forward to the season.

KU is coached by former Oklahoma State Cowboy and Edmond-native Bill Self. The Jayhawks have been to 30-straight NCAA Tournaments and have tallied 15 Final Fours in their program history.

This is the first player Kansas has recruited in the state since five-star Bryce Thompson signed with the Jayhawks before transferring to Oklahoma State.

BHS boys basketball has a home scrimmage on Thursday afternoon against Victory Christian at 3:15 PM.
