Both the Copan and Wesleyan Christian basketball teams begin play in the Class B and Class A Regionals on Thursday, both clubs advanced past Districts this past weekend.

The Mustangs of Wesleyan Christian play Oilton at 3:00 PM in an elimination game played in Cleveland. The Mustangs lost in their District title game to Frontier on Saturday. WCS head coach Kameron Nettleton says his team has worked on rebounding and taking care of the basketball going into the second week of postseason play.

Oilton is 13-13. It lost to Cave Springs in its District title game this past Saturday. Win and advance, lose and go home for WCS the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, Copan enters the Class B Regional undefeated, as the Hornets have two losses to give before the Area Tournament next weekend.

The Hornets won their own district over Shilder this past weekend. Copan has its hands full in the first round on Thursday, with a Regional matchup against McCurtain. McCurtain is 18-7 and is ranked as the No. 10 ranked team in Class B. Hornet head coach Kevin Foreman says his team’s tough schedule throughout the regular season has prepared it for tough games like the matchup against McCurtain.

Copan and McCurtain tip at 8:00 in Okmulgee. Copan will survive in the Class B postseason regardless of the result.
