The Caney Valley Trojans earned a resounding 55-0 victory over Liberty to move to 2-1 on the season. Senior Christian Colbert moved back to quarterback after an offseason move to running back and the move paid major dividends.

Colbert totaled seven touchdowns in the win, three on the ground to go with his 221 rushing yards, two through the air, a punt return and kick return were also taken to the house. Colbert also returned an interception to the two-yard line in his do-everything effort.

The victory wraps up non-district play for Caney Valley and they will look forward to a challenging district slate in 2A District 3.

The Trojans will take a two-game winning streak on the road to Kiefer, an 0-3 team that has scored just four touchdowns on the season thus far.

Trojans head coach Stephen Mitchell is excited about the momentum his team is taking into the district season.

Caney Valley is 1-1 in road contests this season. The Trojans play at Beggs next week before a cozy stretch of three straight home games for the first three weeks in October.

Kick off from Kiefer scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday.
