Copan Football Looking for Players

High school football teams are continuing to get ready for their first big test of the preseason. Most clubs across Northeast Oklahoma will hold scrimmages this week.

At Copan, the Hornets are working under first-year head coach Shane Page. Page took over the program this offseason for Jeff McGlathery. The Hornets went 1-9 a season ago. Copan has won six games over the past five years. Page says he hopes some new facilities and a new head coach will help spur some growth and excitement about the football program.

Page says he has been in the halls trying to recruit some players. There are some question marks going into the season with only nine guys out for the squad thus far.

The Hornets will open up the year at home on September 1 against Prue. Copan is one of the few area teams not playing a zero week game on August the 25.

You can hear more from Page and all the local football teams on Saturday morning’s football preview show.

KWON’s Coach’s Breakfast Broadcast will air at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 93.3.
