Cougars Looking to Build Off Recent Success

Success on the gridiron meant a quick turnaround for Oklahoma Union’s basketball team. The Cougars had just a few full days of practice as a complete unit before their opening weekend on the hardwood. OKU started off the year with two wins defeating Quapaw 88-25 and Ketchum 94-47.

The Cougars made a run all the way to the area finals last season before falling just one game shy of an appearance in the state tournament. The Cougars lose just two seniors from a year ago. OKU head coach Lee Ott says he already sees improvement with this group.

Top-scorer Kohlsyn Gibson returns for his senior year. Kade and Jace Hollingshead also will be major factors for the Cougars as underclassmen. OKU will next play on December 3 at home against Quapaw.

We will have much more preview content on area basketball teams in the coming days.
