It was one-sided contest in area hardwood battle that saw ninth-ranked Oklahoma Union blow out Dewey, 75-44. Oklahoma Union’s pressure defense made things difficult for the Doggers all night as Dewey struggled to get into its half-court offense.

30 turnovers from Dewey led to several easy buckets for Oklahoma Union. The Cougars also flexed their muscle from beyond the arc in the first half. Kohlsyn Gibson hit four three-pointers early on. Gibson had a game-high 29 points on the night. The Cougars led 42-25 at halftime.

In the third quarter Hayden Thornton tried to inspire his Dogger teammates. Thornton attacked the rim aggressively on several instances on his way to a team-high 20 points. This bucket drew the Doggers closer in the second half.

Dewey’s offense ran out of gas as they scored just six points in the final quarter. The Doggers remain winless at 0-6 on the season. OKU is now 7-1.

Dewey is next in action on Friday against Caney, Kansas. Oklahoma Union will play Preston on Friday as well.
