High school basketball ramps up for another area team on Thursday as Dewey travels to Sperry. The Doggers are starting a new era without several key pieces from recent years. New names like Kaleb Hull, Jake LaSpisa and Colby Miller are expected to carry the team going forward.

The Doggers went just 4-19 last season and are hoping for an improvement in the 2020-21 season. Dewey, like many teams had limited participation in practices due to quarantining and other restrictions throughout the preseason. Dewey head coach Lance Knight says his full unit hasn’t been together on the court very much.

The Pirates beat the Doggers twice last season, once by 20 and the other by just two. This is the first of back-to-back games for the Doggers to start the year. Dewey heads to Nowata for a rivalry game on Friday night.
