Doggers Face Kansas to Wrap Up Season

The Dewey Bulldoggers will wrap up the 2021 season with a home contest against Kansas on Friday night. The Doggers should be able to compete against the Comets in a battle of teams that have already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Dewey came close to winning last week in a 20-14 overtime loss to Salina. The Doggers defense forced four turnovers, including three fourth quarter interceptions. Head coach Trent Turner was proud of the defensive effort.

Kansas is a team that likes to run in between the tackles. Comets quarterback Ty Lewis ran for 233 yards against the Doggers last season in a 49-26 Comets win in the only ever meeting between the two schools. The matchup will create some challenges but the Doggers could have some advantages on the perimeter. Turner talks about the matchup.

Dewey is winless in district play for the first time since 2018. Kickoff from Bulldogger Stadium is set for 7 p.m. Radio coverage can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM starting at 6:30 p.m.
