Indians Sweep Three-Rivers in Dramatic Style

It was a drama-filled evening of baseball at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.

Wednesday night saw the Indians take two games in a double-header against Three Rivers, winning 7-3 and 1-0.

The highlight of the evening was a walk-off grand slam from Jimmie Koons in game one. Koons launched a 1-2 fastball over the fence in center field after the Bandits had loaded the bases with walks.

The grand slam completed an already startling comeback.

Bartlesville trailed 3-0 entering the sixth inning, when the Indians offense showed some life. A walk from Chase Fiddler and two singles from Braden Beasley and Nolan Schaper, sandwiched around a strike-three wild pitch to Koons brought Bartlesville within one at 3-2 after six.

The Indians had already tied the game in the seventh before the grand slam thanks to Dustin Weisenbach reaching on an error, advancing to third base on another error, and scoring on a Logan McNeill sac-fly to center. Joe Jones picked up the win after throwing two and a third scoreless innings in relief of Trevor Doyle, who started. Doyle earned a no decision and gave up three runs in 4.2 innings.

In game two it was all about Corey Murphy. Murphy threw a complete game shut out, going seven innings. He allowed only two hits, no walks and struck out 10. Murphy has struck out 27 batters over 16 innings on the year.
