The Dewey Bulldoggers and Lady Doggers began their quest for a state tournament run Friday night at Inola.  It was both the Longhorn teams that won the district titles.  Lady Doggers lost 49-33 while the Doggers fell 70-50.

In the girls game, the Lady Doggers trailed 32-25 after three periods of play.  Inola outscored Dewey 17-8 in the fourth to claim the District Championship.  Dewey's Karissa Jones led with nine points while Kiersten Vincent added eight points.  The Lady Doggers are now 3-20 overall and have lost nine straight games.

In the boys game, it was all the Longhorns as they won the District title.  Dewey trailed 20-11 after the first period and were outscored 16-4 in the second period.  It was too much size for Inola which included poor shooting and too many turnovers by the Doggers.  Hunter Hines led the Doggers with 12 points.  With the loss, Dewey falls to 8-15 overall, have lost seven straight, and lost 11 of their last 12 games.

Season is not over for both the Doggers and Lady Doggers.  They will play in the Regional tournament next Thursday at Vinita against either Vinita or Tulsa Central.  The girls will play at 1:30 and the boys will play at 3 o'clock.
