Oklahoma Union extended its winning streak to seven games after taking care of Nowata, 66-47. The Cougars used a 17-4 run in the second quarter to put distance on the Ironmen and they never looked back.

The sixth-ranked Cougars put on a shooting display early on with four three-pointers in the first quarter, three of which came from Kohlsyn Gibson. The Cougars led 18-11 after one quarter before stepping on the gas pedal in the second quarter. Oklahoma Union’s lead was 41-21 at halftime.

A 10-4 run from the Ironmen brought them within 13 points in the third quarter. However, that’s as close as it would get. Gibson had just one second half field goal for OKU. It came on this acrobatic finish at the rim.

Gibson led all scorers with 22 points on the night. Nowata tried to make a comeback effort late in the game. Dillon Barnes’ buzzer beater at the end of third quarter gave the Ironmen a glimmer of hope.

However, Nowata would run out of gas down the stretch. Mark Price led all Ironmen with 22 points. OKU moves 13-1 with the win. Nowata drops to 9-4.
