Longtime Nowata resident Tracy Nowlin prepares for her first ever National Finals Rodeo after placing 12th overall in the world for barrel racing. Nowlin says the single stop light in Nowata is a humbling reminder to the world stage she’s about to be on in Las Vegas. She says it will be completely different.

Nowlin says she found out about her ranking when the season wrapped up for her on a brisk September day in Omaha, Nebraska. The lifelong dreams of making it to the National Finals Rodeo seems more like a reality for her as the event draws closer. When she walks into to do her first run, she says it will probably really hit her then.

Everyone dreams of making it to the National Finals Rodeo. Nowlin says she had given up on her dream of making it to the NFR and that she wants her son to make it to the NFR someday. She no longer has to give up on her dream.

The National Finals Rodeo starts Dec. 6th and will go through Dec. 15th. We will have more on Tracy Nowlin’s journey to the National Finals Rodeo in the days to come. We will also recap how things are going with Nowlin and her horse Dolly Jo as the National Finals Rodeo carries on.
