Nowata Football Travels To Verdigris
Nowata continues its search for its first win of the 2017 season tonight as it hits the road to take on Verdigris. The Ironmen are 0-3 to start the year and are coming off a 37-0 loss last week to Vinita.
While final score may not show it the Ironmen played three very solid quarters after 34 points in the first. Nowata head coach Bob Craig said the team learned a lot about itself in that ballgame and that should only help it going forward.
The Cardinals come in to this contest with a 1-2 record after earning their first victory of the season last week, 17-0 over Miami. The Verdigris defense was rather stout as they racked up five sacks and intercepted four passes in the shutout victory.
This will be the second consecutive road game that Nowata plays to round out its non-district schedule.
Tonight’s broadcast with Max Gross and Tim Howell can be heard on KRIG 104.9 FM with pregame at 6:40 and kickoff at 7 o’clock.
