Nowata Ironmen Advance To Regional Finals

The Nowata Ironmen advance to the Regional Finals with a 68-63 victory over Metro Christian Thursday night at Nowata.  It was a tight contest from start to finish for these two top 20 teams in Class 3A.  Nowata led 28-24 at halftime.  The Patriots responded with a 22-16 run in the third and led 46-44. The Ironmen finished strong in the fourth, outscoring Metro 24-17 to advance in the regional finals. Jaden Gilliland came off the bench and led Nowata with 29 points, followed by Dalton Carter's 15 points, and Cody Smith's 10 points.  Nowata improves to 16-7 overall and will play at Verdigris for the regional championship Saturday night at 8 o'clock.

Things didn't go well for the Nowata Lady Ironmen as they lost 46-28 to Metro Christian.  Lady Patriots led 23-12 at halftime and outscored Nowata 23-16 in the second half to go to the regional finals. Kennedy Downing led Nowata with 13 points.  Lady Ironmen fall to 8-15 overall and will face Dewey in an elimination game Friday afternoon at 1:30 at Verdigris.
