Nowata Ironmen and Lady Ironmen split their double header Tuesday night, which was officially Senior Night.  Lady Ironmen lost 49-34 while the Ironmen won 83-73.

In the girls game, Nowata's offense couldn't get things together from start until finish.  Sperry led Nowata 15-4 after the first period.  Sperry outscored Nowata 8-3 in the fourth period to go home with a 15 point win.  Kennedy Downing led the Lady Ironmen with 10 points.  Nowata falls to 7-13 overall this season.

Two top 20 teams in Class 3A had a classic Tuesday evening going back and forth on the court. Sperry led Nowata 14-11 after the first period.  Nowata would take the lead for good in the second quarter, thanks to Zen Callahan's 20 points in the first half to take a 38-31 lead at halftime.  Callahan picked up his fourth foul with six minutes left in the third quarter and that's when Nowata had some players step up.  Michael Velasco and Bryce Hewitt made clutch three-pointers along with team defense that made the difference for the rest of the game as Nowata won by 10 points, taking two out of three games from the Pirates.  Callahan finished the game with 28 points and made five 3-pointers.  Velasco added 17 points and Cody Smith finished with 12 points.  Hewitt came off the bench and scored eight points.  Nowata improves to 13-6 overall.

Both the Ironmen and Lady Ironmen will play at Kansas this Friday night.
