Nowata's Ty Hewitt Tournament Begins
The Nowata Ironmen will be the focus of Green Country hoops this week. Nowata hosts the third annual Ty Hewitt Memorial Tournament in honor of the late Ironmen athletic director. This tournament had been going on in Nowata long before it took Hewitt’s name though. Nowata head coach Gary Hollingshead says this event is a treat every year.
The tournament begins Monday with several local teams in action. Oklahoma Union squares off with Fairland and Chelsea takes on Mannford on the boy’s side as well. Meanwhile, the Lady Ironmen open up with Fairland Monday at 7 p.m.
The Ironmen boys’ team will open with Field Kindley High School out of Coffeyville Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Hollingshead says he is looking forward to some of the top talent that is going to be at the tournament.
