Oklahoma Baptist Ends OKWU Season

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles baseball season came to a close Saturday afternoon at Shawnee as Oklahoma Baptist University won the NCCAA Regional Championship with a 6-2 victory. OBU got off to a good start by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning, then score a run in the third and fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead.  The Eagles finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the eighth when Alejandro Hernadez hit a two-run homer to cut the Bison's lead 4-2.  OBU came back with two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the championship.

Sam Haynes pitched over seven innings of work and took the loss.  He game six runs, all earned on 13 hits and struck out six batters.  The Eagles managed just four hits.  Of those four hits, two of them were doubles by Scott Weaver and Trevor Achenbach.  Shaun Baumes had a hit and Hernandez homer.

OBU improves to 37-15 overall and will play in the NCCAA World Series next week.

The Eagles finished the season with a 41-23 record.
