Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles baseball team began their four-game weekend series with a split at Waldorf, losing the first game 5-3 and coming back in the second game with a 4-2 win Friday afternoon.

In the first game, OKWU and Waldorf were tied a two a piece going into the bottom of the fifth and things changed in a hurry.  Waldorf scored one in the fifth and two runs in the bottom of the sixth and held on to survive game one.  Hugo Lemus for OKWU took the loss, dropping his record to 5-2 overall.  In six innings of work, Lemus gave up five runs on six hits, walked three, and struck out nine Waldorf batters. At the plate, Brandon Cummings went 3 for 4 and Avery Flores went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.  Jeff Butler and Austin Murphy each got a hit.

The second game was tied at two a piece and that's when the Eagles calmed down, scoring two of their four runs in the top of the seventh and held Waldorf scoreless in the bottom of the seventh to survive.   Elpido Martin, who came in relief of starter Sam Hayes in the bottom of the seventh, got the win.  Hayes got a no decision.  Butler went 2 for 4 with a double.  Flores went 2 for 2 with a RBI while Gunner Joyce went 2 for 3.  Murphy, Will Price, and Cummings each got a hit.

The Eagles are 38-9 overall and 17-5 in MCAC, trying to stay a top in conference play.  Both OKWU and Waldorf will play a double-header Saturday afternoon to conclude the four-game set.
