OKWU Clinch Conference Title, Lady Eagles 2nd

Saturday afternoon the Senior players from Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles basketball teams celebrated Senior Day in style as they swept Central Baptist College with a pair of wins.  Lady Eagles clinch second place in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 74-66 victory and the Eagles are regular season MCAC champs with a 73-51 win.  In the women's game, Central Baptist kept the game close throughout the day, but the Lady Eagles were strong to the boards, out rebounding the Lady Mustangs 51-30.  Of those 51 total rebounds, 20 were offensive.  OKWU led 36-27 at halftime and were outscored 39-38 in the second half.  Christa Beasler and Shelby Graham led the Lady Eagles with 13 points a piece while Megan Jones added 10 points.  The Lady Eagles shot 35 percent from the field.  OKWU improved to 19-10 overall and 12-2 in MCAC play.  In the men's game, the Mustangs kept the game close in the first half as they trailed 33-28,  The Eagles responded in the second half as they outscored Central Baptist 40-23 in the second half to win the game.  Devin Harris led the Eagles with 18 points while Tyler Woods finished with 14 and Phillip Jahn and Steven Cooks each added 10 points a piece.  The Eagles shot 45 percent from the field and out rebounded the Mustangs 42-37.  OKWU is now 22-9 overall and 12-2 in MCAC play.  The Eagles will host the MCAC conference tournament next week as the number one overall seed.  Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles will the MCAC conference tournament south side of the bracket next week.  Times and the dates will be announced early next week.
