Oklahoma Wesleyan basketball came away with a split in a conference doubleheader at Ottawa.

The No. 1 ranked OKWU men’s team fell for only the second time this season, in a 104-102 overtime loss.

The Eagles trailed 87-83 with just under three minutes remaining in regulation. Senior Jake Feickert hit two huge three-pointer down the stretch. One pulled the score to 87-86. The other knotted the game at 89-89 with just under a minute to play.

Ottawa would miss a potential game-winner at the buzzer - and the game went to overtime.

Ottawa had the upper hand in the overtime period. The Braves were clutch from the free throw line and ultimately came away with the upset two-point victory. K.J. Malveau scored a season a season-high 31 points.

The Eagles fall to 27-2 on the season. This will set up a winner-take-all game on Saturday between the Eagles and Southwestern College for the KCAC title, the only team to beat OKWU prior to Wednesday night.

The Lady Eagles won their second consecutive game, 60-56 over the Lady Braves. OKWU used a 10-0 run at the end of the third quarter to build its lead. With the Lady Eagles up 53-52, Coley Ickes would ice the game with her only three-pointer of the game. The Lady Eagles move to 17-11 on the season and 13-10 in KCAC play

We will have continuing coverage of OKWU basketball before its regular season finale throughout the rest of this week.
