OKWU Softball Sweeps Bacone

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles softball team improved to 20-19 overall Wednesday afternoon as they swept Bacone College 2-1 and 11-7.

In the first game, the Lady Warriors were up 1-0 going into the bottom of the seventh when OKWU scored all of their runs to pick up the victory.  Jenna Daniel went the distance and improved to 10-9 overall.  Daniel gave up a run on seven hits and struck out 13 Bacone batters.  Heather Jones went 1 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI's.  Mayan Meza Toyar, Katelyn Cook, and Christie Bell each got a hit.

In the second game, OKWU had to come from behind again to pick up their second win of the day. Bacone led 7-6 going into the bottom of the sixth and that's when OKWU bats got hot, scoring five of their 11 runs and never trailed again.  Mykelti Sheldon got the win on the mound as she picked up her first victory of the year with an overall record of 1-0.  In six innings of work, Sheldon gave up three runs on four hits and struck out seven Bacone batters.  Mariah Shephard went 3 for 4 with a homerun and 4 RBI's.  Selena Lopez went 3 for 4 with a double while Hannah Sharum went 2 for 4 with a RBI and Toyer went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI's.  Heather Jones at the plate went 2 for 4 with a RBI. As a team, the Lady Eagles out hit the Lady Warriors 13-6.

Next up for OKWU is this Friday as they will travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take MCAC foe Haskell University.
