OKWU Softball Sweeps Haskell

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Lady Eagles softball team picked up two wins Friday afternoon at Lawrence, Kansas as they swept Haskell University 16-3 and 11-0.  Both games ended in five innings.

In the first game, OKWU scored 10 of their 16 runs in the top of the third inning to take care of business. Jenna Daniel went the distance and got the win,  As a team, the Lady Eagles out hit Haskell 15-6.   In five innings of work, Daniel gave up three runs on six hits and struck out 10 Haskell batters.  Mariah Shepherd went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's while Hannah Sharum, Heather Jones, and Dakota Bottoms got two hits each.  Desiree Cavazos got a hit.

The Lady Eagles continued their winning ways in the second game as they scored eight of their 11 runs in the top of the third inning to complete the sweep.  Mykelti Sheldon got the win on the mound as she gave up six hits and struck out four.  Sharum continued to be hot at the plate as she went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 RBI's.  Mayan Meza Tovar went 2 for 4 with a triple.  Christie Bell went 2 for 3 with a RBI and Bottoms went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI's.  Shepherd got a double and Katlyn Cook had a hit for OKWU.

The Lady Eagles are now 22-19 overall and 10-4 in MCAC play.  OKWU will continue their Kansas trip as they will be at McPherson to take on Central Christian.
