OKWU Splits With Bethel College

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles returned to KCAC action Thursday night in Bartlesville as they took on Bethel College.  After going 0-2 at Bellevue, Nebraska, the Lady Eagles got back to their winning ways with an 89-56 win while the Eagles lost 90-68.

It was a team effort for OKWU as they begin the game with a 14-0 run and never looked back.  Lady Eagles led 51-22 at halftime and won by 33 points.  Kayla Morgan came off the bench and led OKWU with 19 points.  Shelbie Kirby finished with 13 points.  Patience Gitau scored 12 points and Tiffany Rieger added 11 points.  OKWU shot 53 percent from the field, compared to Bethel College shooting 33 percent.  Lady Eagles out rebounded Bethel College 47-29.  OKWU were perfect from the line 11 for 11.  Lady Eagles are now 9-8 overall and 5-4 in KCAC play.

The Eagles led early in the first half, but it slipped away as Bethel College got on a huge run to take a 44-32 lead at halftime.  OKWU got within 13 points in the second half, but Bethel College were stronger down the stretch to win by 22 points.  The Eagles didn't go to the line in the first half, but finished by going 3 for 5.  As a team, the Eagles shot 44 percent and 26 percent from the 3-point line.  Bethel College shot 55 percent from the field.  Bethel's Deven Goodwin led with 22 points while Jacob Miller added 21 points.  Miller is this week's KCAC Defensive Player of the week. Eagles were led by Brieman Alexander with 27 points.  OKWU committed 17 turnovers.  The Eagles fall to 7-9 overall and 4-5 in KCAC play.
