OKWU Splits With College of The Ozarks

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles played their second straight MCAC game at home against College of the Ozarks Saturday afternoon.  The 16th ranked Lady Eagles survived against the #20 Lady Bobcats with a 76-73 win while the Eagles lost their second straight MCAC game 102-77 to the 12th ranked Bobcats.

The womens game was tight for most of the game.  C of O had a shot to tie the game at the end of regulation, but it came short as the Lady Eagles improved to 2-0 in MCAC play and 16-2 overall.  The victory is the Lady Eagles eighth in a row.  OKWU led 39-34 at halftime, but were outscored 39-37 in the second half.  Lady Eagles out rebounded C of O 52-43.  Nichole Tate came up strong as she led OKWU with 25 points while Susan Agesen added 12 points.  College of the Ozarks Hannah Wisdom led with 22 points, scoring 18 in the second half while Kayla Kepler finished with 14 points and Maggie McMenamy added 10.

In the mens game, the Bobcats only had eight players in uniform, but it didn't matter as they shot lights out against the Eagles shooting 58 percent from the field and 56 percent from the 3-point line. C of O led 58-40 at halftime and outscored OKWU 44-37 in the second half.  The Eagles only shot 39 percent from the field and only committed nine turnovers.  The Eagles were led by Freshman CJ Ross with 16 points while Nikola Stjepanovic finished with 13 points and Chandler Moczyamba added 11.  Four Bobcat players finished in double figures.  Leading the way was Derick Daniels with a game high 27 points, making six 3-point baskets while Ethan Murray made five 3-point shots and finished with 21 points.  Pete Leonard added 19 points and Alex Santiago finished with 14. With the loss, OKWU drops to 6-11 overall and 0-2 in MCAC play.

Next up for the Eagles and Lady Eagles will be this Tuesday night as they will host Haskell Indian Nations University.  Ladies play at 5:30 while the men will play at 7:30.
