OKWU Sweeps Bethel College

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles won key road games Saturday afternoon at Bethel College.  Lady Eagles won 74-57 while the Eagles won 97-80.

The Lady Eagles dominated the game from start until finish.  The Threshers couldn't stop the dynamic duo of Shelbie Kirby and Tiffany Rieger.  Lady Eagles led 36-26 at halftime, but had one of their stronger third period play this season, outscoring Bethel College 29-12.  Kirby led with 20 points while Rieger added 19.  Kayla Morgan came off the bench and finished with 12 points.  OKWU shot 38 percent from the field.  Lady Eagles are now 13-15 overall and 9-11 in KCAC play.

The Eagles were off to a hot start in the first half, shooting 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from the 3-point line.  OKWU led 58-38 at halftime.  Bethel College would hang around in the second half, but the Eagles held on for another key road victory.  Six OKWU players scored in double figures.  AJ Jack recorded another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Jake Feickert came off the bench and led with a season high 22 points.  Breiman Alexander finished with 18 points while Shaq Martin added 16 points and seven rebounds.  Elbert Lawrence finished with 13 points and Ryan Schuessler added 10 points.  Overall, the Eagles shot 48 percent from the field and 38 percent from the 3-point line.  OKWU never trailed in the contest.  Eagles improve to 12-15 overall and 9-11 in KCAC play.

Both the Eagles and Lady Eagles will play their final home games of the season this Thursday evening against Sterling College.  Ladies play at six while the men will play at eight.
