OKWU Sweeps Friends University

Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles and Lady Eagles ended their 3-game home stand Wednesday night in Bartlesville with a couple of wins.  Lady Eagles have won eight in a row with a 102-97 victory over Friends University while the Eagles extended their winning streak to three games with an 81-68 win over the Falcons.

Lady Eagles got off to a fast start early, but that didn't last as the Lady Falcons kept the game close. OKWU led 43-42 at halftime and outscored Friends 59-55 in the second half to pick up their 16th win of the year and are now in second place in the KCAC.  The difference in the game were free throws. OKWU went 43 for 49 from the line for 87 percent.  Shelbie Kirby came off the bench and led with 21 points while Cheyenne Been added 18 points.  Susan Agesen, the current KCAC player of the week, had another double-double, 14 points and game high 12 rebounds in 17 minutes of play. Kayla Morgan helped out with 15 points.  Lady Falcons Shann Sellers led with a game high 26 points.  Lady Eagles shot 32 percent while Friends shot 42 percent.  Friends out rebounded the Lady Eagles 46-33.  OKWU improves to 16-8 overall and 10-4 in KCAC play.

The Eagles got off to a slow start early as Friends led 7-0.  But OKWU found a way to come back and led 43-31 at halftime.  The Eagles managed to stay focused and finish the game strong even though the Falcons tried to make a comeback.  OKWU kept things cool after a couple of technical fouls were called against Friends and late in the game things got interesting as Eagles coach Mark Molder and Friends coach Dale Faber exchanged words.  OKWU's Jervis Hamilton had one of his better games this season as he posted a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Jake Feickert led the Eagles with 17 points while CJ Ross finished with 13 points and Ryan Schuessler added 12.  The Falcons were led by Brett Williams with a game high 21 points.  The Eagles shot 45 percent and out rebounded the Falcons 46-24.  The victory improves the Eagles to an 11-12 overall record and 6-8 in KCAC play.

Next up for the Eagles and Lady Eagles is this Saturday at Bethany College.  Ladies play at 5 P.M while the Men will play at 7 P.M.
