OKWU Winning Streak Snapped
Oklahoma Wesleyan University Eagles baseball team's 29 game winning streak came to an end Monday night at the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho as Cumberland, Tennessee scored the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning to upset the Eagles 8-7. OKWU got off to a good start scoring three runs in the top of the first to take a 3-0 lead. Cumberland would score five of their eight runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-3 lead. The Eagles stormed back scoring four runs in the top of the fourth to retake the lead 7-5. That was all the runs the Eagles managed as Cumberland scored a run in the sixth, eighth, and tenth innings to take the game. Sam Haynes took the loss on the mound. In four innings of work, Haynes gave up two runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out two. Avery Flores, Jeff Butler, Jose Ruiz, Cody Riley, and Garrett Easton each got two hits.
The Eagles are 56-7 overall and will take on Tabor College in an elimination game Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock Oklahoma time.
