Fall camp for high school football is just four weeks away as we continue our scan of teams around the area. Caney Valley saw a dip in the program’s momentum in 2018 after a playoff appearance in 2017. The Trojans lose a talented senior class but have opportunities opened up for some underclassmen to take charge.

Head coach Stephen Mitchell says the wide receiver position has his attention. The Trojans have some established playmakers and will we be getting a few guys back from injury as well. Mitchell explains.

Fairchild, Wingo and Daniel Barham will give the Trojans new gunslinger plenty of targets to use in the in their wide-open spread offense. The only question is who that quarterback will be. Seth Gilbreath, Zack Wallis and Michael Layton will all engage in a battle for the starting spot. None of the three have taken any varsity snaps under center.

Caney Valley went 2-8 in 2018. The Trojans will open up the 2019 campaign on August 30 with a home game against Barnsdall.
