Bartlesville High girls’ basketball will have its final scrimmage of the preseason, at least for now, on the road at Dewey on Tuesday.

The BHS girls are under new direction this winter, as head coach Justyn Shaw took over the program over the summer.

Previous head coach Donnie Martin resigned after the regular season. Bartlesville then hired Pawhuska boy’s coach Talby Justus, before Justus left for an assistant’s job at Tulsa. Shaw was then hired in late-July.

Shaw was a former Jenks Trojan and college basketball player at McPherson College in Kansas.

Shaw says so far so good during the first six-weeks and a handful of scrimmages to this point.

Kate Gronigan and T’Keitha Valentine will be the two mainstays back for Bartlesville. Both have been regular varsity players for each of the past two seasons. Combined they averaged nearly 15-points-per-game a year ago.

Shaw says Bartlesville will lean on those two this winter.

There will be a handful of new players for BHS this year in addition to other returners in Regan Hodge, Peyton Pregler, Mikka Chambers, Kaelynn Duncan and others.

BHS opens up its season at Shaw’s Alma Mater, Jenks, on Dec. 7.
