Two fought high school basketball games took place at Dewey as the Sperry Pirates and Lady Pirates went home with a couple of win.  Lady Pirates won 53-48 while the Pirates escaped with a 91-89 win.

In the girls game, both teams battled throught the contest.  Lady Doggers led at halftime 20-18, but Sperry 35-28 in the second half to give Dewey their first loss of the season.  A total of 62 free throws were attempted.  Dewey went 16 for 34 while Sperry went 11 for 28.  Cold shooting for the Lady Doggers were a factor as nothing wasn't going in the hoop.  Erin Herchock led Dewey with 12 points while Kiersten Vincent and Karissa Jones finished with 11 points a piece.

Perhaps one of the most entertaining boys games in Dewey in a long time went down the wire.  After Trenton Anderson made two free throws to tie the game at 89, the Doggers called a time out to set up a defensive play.  Going to the length of the court, Sperry's Grant Pisachubbe threw a baseball pass and found a wide open Colton Simmons in the paint, made the winning bucket with no time left and Sperry survived the game.  Both teams went up and down the floor for all four periods.  Dewey led most the first half and took a 45-43 lead at halftime.  Sperry turned up a notch and outscored the Doggers 30-20 in the third period.  Dewey and Sperry went back and forth in the final period, but it was the Pirates giving Dewey their first loss of the season.  Trenton Anderson led Dewey with 25 points, 20 of those points in the second half, while Drew Miller finished with 20 points.  Hunter Hines finished in double figures with 13 points.  Sperry was led by Jace Pratt's 25 points.  ,Pisachubbe and Logan Mullins each finished with 21 points.  Simmons, who made the winning shot, finished with 20 points, 18 of those points coming in the second half.

Both the Lady Doggers and the Doggers are back in action Friday night as they will host Nowata.
