Wesleyan Christian FB in Playoffs Friday

Wesleyan Christian School football is looking for its first OSSAA playoff win in nine years, as the Mustangs host Sasakwa in Bartlesville.

The Mustangs are 7-3 and earned the 2-seed out of Class C-3 with two huge wins at the end of the regular season. Last week’s victory over South Coffeyville came on Thursday.

WCS head coach Curt Cloud says his team enjoyed the extra day to prepare for the Vikings on Friday.

After starting the season at 0-2, the Mustangs have gone 7-1 in their past eight games, with their only loss coming to one of the top teams of the state in Timberlake. WCS has outscored its opponents by an average of 52-16 in those contests.

Cloud says his team has gotten better over the course of the past several weeks.

Sasakwa enters with a 7-2 record. The Vikings have won first-round playoff games in back-to-back seasons. SHS lost last week to Midway, 64-14 to drop the Vikings to the three-seed in C-4, thus the road trip to Bartlesville.

A 7:00 kick with a 6:45 pregame on KWON – AM 1400, FM 93.3 and 95.1.
