Bartlesville High is into its final week of action under first year head coach Jason Sport starting on Monday, weather pending.

Sport will make no bones about it, expectations are higher than they’ve been in quite a while for BHS football entering 2019, with the sheer numbers of players back with experience this season.

One of the more experienced spots will be at quarterback, where Ben Winters returns as a starter.

Winters started the final nine games of the season a year ago, He threw for 1,540 yards and 11 touchdowns vs. nine interceptions. e completed 55-percent of his passes last year, as well.

It was his growth at the signal caller spot that raised eyebrows across 6A-II. Sport talks about his returning quarterback.

Sport said that Winters is sharing some snaps with sophomore Paxton Bradford, who will get a few looks at quarterback as well.

Both those guys were involved in the battle for that position a year ago. The Bruins will practice this week through Thursday before having a week off, and then heading to Owasso for a team camp in early June.
