Young's Recruitment to Heat Up

At Bartlesville High, the football Bruins finished up one of the most transformative seasons in program history.

BHS went from 1-8 to 4-6 under first-year head coach Lee Blankenship.

On top of that success on the field, Bartlesville will have 17 players with starting varsity experience coming back for 2019. Blankenship now also gets his first full offseason with the club. He talks about why that matters.

In addition to improving his club throughout the next several months, another project of Blankenship, and the Bartlesville High coaches, will be helping DeAndre Young through the recruitment process.

The senior running back finished 2018 as one of the best tailbacks in the state, and nabbed a Bartlesville High single-season rushing record.

Young finished with 226 carries for 1,937 yards and 18 touchdowns. He rushed for more than nine-yards a carry - and did it all in only eight games played. Blankenship talks about his recruitment.

Blankenship went on to say that there are several high-profile NCAA Division II schools interested in Young.

He could also go the junior college route in order to gain a scholarship at a division one school at a later date.
