Nowata Basketball Meets Caney Valley (OK)
High school basketball is back across Northeast Oklahoma with action kicking back up on Tuesday.
The Nowata Ironmen are on the road to open the 2025-26 campaign against the Caney Valley Trojans. Caney Valley opened their season against Mounds back on Nov. 21, and rolled to a 57-24 win.
Last season, Nowata and Caney Valley met three times. Nowata took all three matchups, including a playoff win at home. The Ironmen beat Caney Valley on the road on Jan. 14, 47-33.
Head coach Derick Ott talked about playing in Ramona.
On the other side, after the stellar defensive showing before the holiday, the Trojans are back home for their conference opener.
Last season with a young group, the Trojans went just 1-7 in conference play. Head coach Tug Brinker talked about the competitive nature of the conference.
