As winter approaches and the risk of storms increases, Public Service Company of Oklahoma urges customers to prepare for cold weather and potential power outages.

PSO officials say crews work year-round to strengthen the electric grid through tree trimming, equipment upgrades and smart technology to reduce outages and speed response times.

PSO recommends building an emergency kit, planning for medical equipment power needs, avoiding downed power lines, and using space heaters safely. Customers are encouraged to sign up for text alerts and update contact information at PSOklahoma.com, as well as follow PSO on social media for updates.

Cold weather can also drive up energy use and PSO offers low- and no-cost tips to help customers manage energy bills during winter.
