OKM Music Festival Returns with Patriotic Theme, Expanded Lineup

OKM Music will host its 42nd annual music festival June 5–7, featuring a wide range of performances, family activities, and a patriotic theme tied to America’s 250th anniversary.
Appearing on KWON Radio’s COMMUNITY CONNECTION, OKM's Mary Lynn Mihm said the festival will kick off June 5 at Woolaroc Museum & Wildlife Preserve with a performance by award-winning bluegrass band Balsam Range, followed by fireworks. Additional main-stage events include a June 6 outdoor concert at PostOak Lodge in Tulsa featuring a 37-musician “yacht rock” collaboration led by saxophonist Grady Nichols and guest artists, and a June 7 finale performance at Oklahoma Wesleyan University’s chapel with vocalist Chris May.
The festival also includes more than 20 showcase events, children’s programming, and community activities running May 29 through June 7. Mihm said offerings range from puppet shows and art workshops to live performances by the Manhattan Chamber Players and local musicians. A free family “cookout”-style finale with games and music is planned at Unity Square.
Many events are free, though reservations are encouraged due to limited seating. Tickets and a full schedule are available through OKM Music’s website www.okmmusic.org .
