Washington County voters who plan to cast absentee ballots by mail have until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, to submit their absentee ballot applications to the Washington County Election Board.

Applications must be received by the county election board by the deadline to be processed for the upcoming election.

Washington County Election Board Secretary Yvonne House says absentee voting is available to all registered voters in Oklahoma, and no excuse is required to request an absentee ballot.

"In Oklahoma, no excuse is needed to vote by absentee ballot, and it's easy to apply," House said. "Voters can submit their application online, in person, by fax, mail or even email."

Voters may apply online through the Oklahoma Voter Portal or obtain an application from the Washington County Election Board. Applications also can be downloaded from the Oklahoma State Election Board website.

House reminded voters that state law requires each applicant to submit his or her own absentee ballot application.

"It is against the law to submit an absentee ballot application for another person," she said.
