Bartlesville Athletics Watches Summer Heat

High school sports practices have been going for just over a week in Oklahoma. Softball, volleyball and cross country got started with practices a week ago Wednesday.

It can be a brutally hot time of year, as we saw earlier this week with some heat index readings above 105 for a stretch.

The summer heat and the trend of more Zero Week kickoffs in August, prompted the OSSAA to move up the practice date for high school football to Aug 3. It would have historically been an Aug. 10 start.

Bartlesville High Athletic Director Thad Dilbeck says the summer heat is always something the department keeps in mind this time of year.

We have more on a full athletic department update with coach Dilbeck during Friday morning’s Bruin Buzz program, which will air around 9:45 AM on KWON.
