Bartlesville Loses DH v Muskogee

Bartlesville High basketball played a couple entertaining games on Wednesday night at Bruin Field House against Muskogee, but unfortunately neither team could get a win in close ones.
On the girl’s side, the Lady Bruins fell in an upset bid against the Lady Roughers, 59-54 in overtime.
Bartlesville probably led for about 75-percent of regulation but couldn’t put Muskogee away. A 10-3 Lady Rougher run in the final three minutes tied the game, then Muskogee outscored BHS 9-4 in the extra period.
The Lady Bruins may have played their best game of the season. BHS was solid taking care of the ball, with only seven turnovers against an athletic and aggressive Muskogee club.
Muskogee would hit two free throws to tie it in the final seconds.
Sami Shaeffer led the way with 22 points.
On the guy’s side it was even more wild. BHS rallied from 23 points down in the first half to lead Muskogee late, but the Roughers won it 63-61.
A late three-point try at the buzzer for the Bruins fell just short, giving Muskogee the sweep.
Bartlesville didn’t function well in the first half. Turnovers and Muskogee runouts off Bruin misses gave the Roughers a bigger than 20-point advantage multiple times. However, Bartlesville kept chipping away.
Trae Collins’ shooting and defense and rebounding from Skyler Carter turned the game on its head.
Down four in the final seconds, this Jackson Barta three drew the Bruins within one.
Both BHS teams are now off on Thursday and back at it at Jenks on Friday night for another District twin bill.
