Bruin Tennis and Track Wraps Up

High school sports has all wrapped up across the state, as Monday is the unofficial start of spring football in Oklahoma.

Bartlesville High finished up the final two spring sports on Saturday with 6A State boy’s tennis and track and field.

The Bruins performed well in both.

In track, Bartlesville got another gold medal from Wesley Turner in pole vault. According to head coach David Ayres, Turner cleared 16-feet with his final attempt to win it. Turner had to fight through multiple injuries to win it as a junior.

Elsewhere, Michael Murphy placed fourth in state at discus and 15th in shot put.

Michael Taylor finished 3rd in 300 hurdles Alayna Nightengale was 12th in high jump and 10th in the 100 hurdles.

Meanwhile the girl’s 4X400 meter relay team took 15th overall.

In tennis, Bartlesville got top-12 finishes from both doubles-teams who qualified.

The No. 1 team of Johnny Colmenero and Carson Covington finished with a record of 20-6.

Meanwhile the No. 2 doubles team of Elijah Burchett and Karson Proctor played well after an injury to Rylan Green. They went 10-10 on the year.
