Bruins Take ConocoPhillips Bowl

Bartlesville High was able to hoist the ConocoPhillips Bowl trophy, and keep itself alive in a thick 6A-II playoff race on Friday night, as the Bruins outlasted Ponca City in a back and forth thrilling ballgame.
BHS beat Po-Hi 34-29 at Sullins Stadium in Ponca City. The Bruin defense, which struggled to hold down a potent Ponca run game, stopped the Wildcats on wild 4th and 22 play with less than a minute remaining to ensure Bartlesville’s victory.
With the win, Bartlesville is now in a three-way tie with Ponca City and Sapulpa for the fourth and final playoff spot in the east side of 6A-II. BHS trailed 7-0 after the first drive of the game, but Bartlesville would not be down long, thanks to the heroics of Caden Davis.
The kick return was the first of three scores on the night. Davis had two more touchdowns receiving, in addition to blocking a point after attempt, which ended up being crucial in the contest.
Laken Clowdus was also huge for BHS, as he added two touchdowns on the night, including the eventual game winner.

Bartlesville will try to keep its playoff hopes alive, with its toughest game left on the schedule, at Muskogee, this coming Friday.
