Caney Tops Galena, Prepares for Riverton Rematch
The Caney Valley Bullpups defeated the Galena Bulldogs for the second time this season, moving forward in the playoffs. “It’s hard to beat somebody twice,” said Coach Chris Davis, who credited his team’s in-game adaptability and strong offensive line.
Running backs Buckley and Garton each surpassed 1,000 yards on the season, a milestone Davis described as “quite an accomplishment.” Quarterback Lane Denny’s skill at reading defenses and calling audibles was highlighted as a major advantage: “It’s like having another coach on the field.”
The Bullpups will next host Riverton, focusing on minimizing turnovers and hoping for a strong home crowd, a win, and advancing to the state quarterfinals on their quest to be Kansas State Champs.
