Caney Valley (OK) Football Schedule Released
Caney Valley (OK) Trojan football has their schedule set for the upcoming season.
The program applied to play independently and were approved by the OSSAA Board of Directors in February. The Trojans will play an independent schedule for the next two seasons. Because of that, they will not be able to play in the postseason regardless of their overall record.
Head coach Derrick Hammer is entering his second season with the program, following a winless season last fall. With a team of around 25 players last year, almost half of the team were freshmen. Hammer says the decision to play independent was the right move for the program.
Caney Valley will play some familiar faces this season, despite not being paired with a select group of teams in a district.
The Trojans will play six home games this season. Caney Valley will host Barnsdall, Allen, Nowata, Commerce, Classen SAS and Summit Christian. The Trojans will travel to Choteau, Mounds, Cornerstone and Coweta. Caney Valley will play Coweta's junior varsity team on week nine of the season.
The Trojans open their season against Barnsdall on Aug. 28.
