Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy departed the team's training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri, on Monday following a severe domestic incident at his family's home in Ashburn, Virginia. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a Sunday evening report of a shooting and discovered Bieniemy's wife, 57-year-old Mia Bieniemy, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries and is currently in stable condition. The Chiefs organization issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation but declined to provide further details.
In connection with the shooting, authorities arrested the couple's 27-year-old son, Elijah Zion Bieniemy. He is currently being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and faces charges of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and the discharge of a firearm inside a dwelling.
