Dewey Baseball Wins Regional Championship

It was an offensive show for Dewey baseball as the Bulldoggers secured a regional championship on Friday evening.
Dewey beat Beggs in eight innings, 15-9.
Offense came early and often from both sides, with Dewey pitching also racking up the strikeouts. The Bulldoggers took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Beggs tied it in the bottom of the second.
The Bulldoggers responded with three more runs in the top of the third, Beggs put up three more runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at four. Dewey took the lead back in the top of the fourth, 6-4. Beggs loaded the bases in their half of the fourth but only struck for one. This strikeout from Layne Gastel helped get Dewey out of the jam.
The Bulldoggers took another three-run lead, 8-5 going into the bottom of the fifth. Again, Beggs had an answer, striking for two more in the bottom half to make it 8-7. The Golden Demons got another run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and force extras.
Bulldogger bats came to life in the eighth inning. Dewey struck for seven in the frame. This two-RBI knock from Easton Davis broke the tie in extras.
Davis finished with four RBIs.
Dewey brought 11 batters to the plate in the frame. Tysen Williams pinch-hit in the frame, and smoked a two-RBI base hit into centerfield to put the cherry on top.
The win sends Dewey to a best-of-three area series with an opponent to be determined. If the Bulldoggers win the series, they will head to the state tournament. Dewey will know their area assignment on Monday.
