Dewey Football Falls on Road

Dewey Bulldogger football fell in a tight, defensive battle on Friday night in Checotah.

The Doggers lost to the Wildcats, 14-6.

Dewey had moments offensively where things stalled out. The Doggers turned the ball over four times, with multiple red zone turnovers.

Defensively, the Bulldoggers showed up once again. After a rough defensive night in Perkins last week, Dewey's defense came back to life. It got started on defense with a fourth down stop in Checotah territory.

Dewey never stayed completely out of the ballgame, Checotah led 7-0 going into the fourth quarter. A turnover inside their own five-yard line put Checotah on the doorstep, giving the Wildcats a two-touchdown lead.

The Bulldoggers responded with just under a minute left for a 64-yard touchdown pass from Braxton Braden to a wide-open Marshal McDaniel to put Dewey on the board.

The loss drops Dewey to 1-2 on the season. They will open district action next week for another road test against Metro Christian on Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
